Yesterday was 'Found Fruits Jam' day in Greenwich. The elderberry bush by my front door and the one branch of the neighbor's apple tree that leans over the fence into my garden provided the 'found fruit'. However, their bounty is limited to, um, half a jar of jam. Perhaps just as well -- while I kept my pots, funnel, and other canning paraphernalia, the stash of empty jars did not emmigrate with me. Perhaps it is time to investigate local alternatives as there were piles of plums and damsons at the market on Saturday.
