Very heavy fog on the river today, deep enough that the warship in Greenwich deep-water berth could not be seen from the pier, neither shore could be seen from the middle of the Thames, and the commuter boats were running at 5-10 knots instead of the usual 25-30.

The F&M Christmas catalog arrived at 6.25 this morning, sending S_b & S_r into a state of great excitement. Though admittedly the excitement was more due to the hour (as the mail usually arrives well after 9.00) than the catalog itself.
