The London Report: Week Four

Despite the frequency with which it rains in England the weather still seems to catch the English by surprise. The recent 'heat wave' broke Tuesday with a wonderful thunderstorm over western London and the Tube broke along with it. Monument Station was closed due to a fire, Westminster Station was closed due to overcrowding, the entire Circle Line was shut down due to 'extreme weather' and the western reaches of the District Line were unreachable due to sundry signal failures. Raw sewage spills into the Thames, and someone is killed by lightning in Hyde Park because they don't have smarts enough to go indoors. For those of us sensibly sheltered, the lightning was quite a show to watch.

The estate agent is still checking references. My household possessions are still somewhere in transit. Sigh. But I'm off to New Hampshire for a little male bonding (over beer & chainsaws) with my brother.
