A lovely day to be out in the city, the sidewalks full with the brunch crowd and dogs happy to have their human home for the weekend as I return from the farmers' market (complete with Balkan band!) to search for my haroset recipe.

San Francisco lost part of its identity this week with the closing of the Faire Queen chocolate shop. No longer will their fudge -- rose, violet & lavender -- come with me on my travels, hand-carried to friends from Seattle to Scotland.
